I have never had a butterfly before never held one in the palm of my hand knowing that soon I would have to set it free I did not anticipate this feeling could not see the beauty of what was before me before today but this day is only a glimpse this week only a sample our time together only a taste of what I could feel it scares me to think that there could be more to this it scares me more to know that I have to let go and believe that if you truly are my butterfly that someday you will come back to me

one morning i will wake find my bed empty and sigh one morning i will be more than warmth the night before will be worth more than a blanket than a pillow than Another warm body than another girl from another town in another bed another thing i will be is loved truly loved when there is no reason to be it is just then undeniably that morning shall come though it wasn't this morning and will not be tomorrow it will be someday

it's for the best yours or mine to just let the dust settle and wait to see the clear blue skies from unclouded eyes but I will tell you my dust has settled my eyes must be clouded naturally when I look to the clear blue you still stand there the dust has settled everywhere it rests on your eyelashes pillows for the angels it rests on your back where someday your wings will grow and I see it weighs you down I try to wipe it off to clear this burden but you aren't really here aren't waiting for me to rescue you shut the world out discarded this dust while I carry it around
